Spring is Here!
There is no doubt that spring is definitely in the air. Today it has reached the upper 70's and appears to be remaining there for a couple of days at least. My little bulbs of tulips and daffodils have been sending up their shoots for the last couple of weeks in promise of their beautiful flowers soon. And my cat is shedding. A lot. I took Laura outside today to watch the goings on around the farm. This afternoon she is sleeping having gotten very tired from our little tour of the place. It seems as though every day we have another baby calf (or 2 or 3) and the geese have returned so that you can watch their v-shaped patterns overhead. After the dreariness of winter, spring is a most aspicious reward.
Take this bread, Drink this Wine
Last night John and I attended a first communion meeting. Personally I expected it to be a quick meeting to get organized for Megan's upcoming first communion. And it was a little bit. But Father Ed has decided that the parents are in need of training to so we spent one and a half hours going through the meaning behind mass and basically received a pretty extensive primer. I have to admit that I found it very informative. Something that has been spending the last 2000 years evolving is never simple and quite a lot of it is symbolistic in ways that you would never imagine by just attending church. It never ceases to amaze me that the more I learn of Catholicism the more aware I become of the vast number of events, people and differing opinions which has created what we now see as the church today.

But the groundhog saw his shadow!

The weather has been gorgeous. There is no other way to put it. Who would have imagined that in the first half of February we would be having temperatures in the 70's. I've actually noticed some bugs have been fooled by the unseasonable weather as well. I realize as I write this that the forcast is saying this will be it and the next several days will be increasingly cold, however it is nice when running errands to not have to worry about a coat. I imagine we will end up paying for this in April when we would expect it to be nice...Does this make me a glass half empty kind of person? It has also been fun seeing what some of the warmer weather clothes that I never expected Laura to wear look like. I think she looks very cute. She smiles all the time but I can never seem get her to do it for a camera.

First Post and Stilts

I have now taken the leap and started a blog. This is for all those relatives that I do a horrible job keeping up to date. Now you can just glance at my blog and hopefully see what our family has been up to lately!
As you can see in the picture Megan & Malissa had a project that we created today. Megan was looking as some old childcraft books that my parents off-loaded (ah...handed down) to us. Truthfully I always liked them when I was a kid and it seems that Megan likes to look at them too. Anyway, one of the books has suggestions for various projects and the one we decided to tackle was tin can stilts. At first the girls spent most of their time falling down but they managed to figure it out soon enough and stomped all over the basement.
