January 24, 2015 - Nemaha County Spelling Bee

For 6th grade, 7th grade and now 8th grade, Megan has qualified for the Nemaha County Spelling Bee. Now in her final year of eligibility, Megan was hopeful that she would qualify for the Regional Spelling Bee in Topeka. To do that she would have to be one of the top 2 finishers.

Congratulations Megan on your second place finish in the Nemaha County Spelling Bee on January 24, 2015!

January 21, 2015 - Karla: The Real 4th Birthday

Finally, on January 21, 2015, Karla got the chance to celebrate on her actual birthday!

Yes, I know these are cupcakes not a birthday cake. Those are pumpkin nutella muffins with pink cream cheese frosting. In other words: they are amazing!

The best part are of course the presents!

She's a star!

A play doh picnic!

January 21, 2015 - Karla opening presents

The best surprises come in the mail! Karla opening her birthday presents from Grandpa Bill and Grandma Sharman.

January 18, 2015 - Celebrating Grandpa Deters' Birthday

On Sunday, January 19, 2015 we celebrated Virgil Deters' 75th birthday. As many children, grandchildren, spouses and other assorted as could make it were gathered in the basement of Virgil and Marilee's home to celebrate.

Gabe felt that Grandpa needed some help blowing out his candles. He volunteered his expert level skills.

Because everyone was already gathered together and because you can never have too many birthday cakes, Karla celebrated her 4th birthday at the same time.

Karla's favorite part is the icing, but mostly she just wanted to go play with the rest of her cousins.

The view from both directions in the basement. As you can see, there was a full house!

January 6, 2015 - School Spelling Bee

From 5th grade through 8th grade, the students at Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School held spelling contests to determine which 3 of their classmates would represent their grade at the all school spelling bee. Megan was one of the representatives of the 8th grade class.
The school spelling bee was held on January 6th, 2015. The representatives from each class were seated in the gym while the rest of the students watched from the bleachers. Parents of the students participating were also invited to watch.
Here is Megan coming up to the microphone to spell a word during her turn.
A picture of all the student representatives from all the classes. They were all great spellers and did a wonderful job representing their classes.
The 7 students who qualified for the county spelling bee from NCEMS. Megan did a great job making the cut!

A Reboot...

There is a new plan with this blog!

Welcome to our online album and journal!

Do you want to see our vacation pictures?

How about those videos of a first band performance?

This is the place to come see us!

What you aren't likely to see is up to date content. That was the problem with the previous blogging attempt and I have decided that will no longer be a factor. When putting together a photo album you don't assemble it as you go - you allow it to pile up and update it all at once. At least that is my philosophy. That is what will happen here. As an example this reboot is starting in November and I will have events that date from the beginning of 2015. I really hope this works out like I envision.

In honor of new beginnings please enjoy this picture of a sunrise.
